Haunted mansion that opens like a dollhouse with horror rooms

The hardest part of a project like this has to be fitting six separate scenes into three levels without any of them feeling cramped, and that is where the maker's planning shows. Every room and floor carries its own movie moment, and hinges along the exterior walls let the whole mansion swing open like a dollhouse.

The house itself is a multi-level custom mansion built from standard bricks plus specialized minifigure elements. The facade mixes sand green and tan in an irregular pattern that reads as old, uneven masonry, and the windows are framed by white decorative arch elements. A columned porch with railings grounds the ground floor.

The scene list is a horror fan's wish list. The ground floor holds the spider-walk moment from The Exorcist in a grand entryway, plus Scooby-Doo and Shaggy at a dining table. A kitchen shows a mother fighting off Gremlins beside an open refrigerator and a blender. On the second level, Ghostface pursues a victim down a corridor, the bathroom from The Shining includes an axe-wielding minifigure, and a child's bedroom stages the Poltergeist clown doll with toys. The attic tops it off with Beetlejuice among cobwebs and vintage furniture, The Nun holding a lantern, an upright vampire coffin, a rocking chair and specimen jars.

Printed elements and stickers add readable text throughout, which rewards anyone who leans in close. One loose end: Crèmekoek has said the legs used for the Jack Torrance minifigure can no longer be recalled. And the whole thing is being taken apart to make way for a new build, so this is a last look.

Swinging the walls open on hinges is the choice I keep coming back to. It trades a closed, solid silhouette for full access to all three levels, and for a house this packed with small scenes that seems like the right call. A lift-off roof would have hidden half the rooms.

How was the spider-walk moment staged in the entryway? Getting a minifigure to read as that specific scene in a grand hallway seems tricky, and I would love to know how the pose and the floor around it were worked out.

The attic scene with Beetlejuice, the coffin, the rocking chair and the jars could take a small microtown around him. It would give that top level more of a sense of place, suit the movie setting, and use space that the openable walls already put on display.
