Consumer lockpicking device any good?

I was demonstrating lock picking, and someone called SPCA and now.... well..... it sounded better than my violin, the neighbors said.

I'll stick to lock picking.

I'm afraid that cashcroft is not the only one that cringes every time Keyman writes "you're" when you should have typed "your" and their for they're.

At first I assumed that since Keyman is otherwise intelligent, posted when drunk, as that would also explain the poor use of punctuation, capitalization and occasional thin skin.

Now that I know he doesn't drink, my guess is that he's deliberately mis-using the words for some unknown purpose. More than 50% of Keyman's posts have this error, so it probably isn't accidental. It's similar to the way my wife's husband says "good morning" to people no matter what time of day or night. It often elicits a smile from those I greet.

Like most things on usenet, if you don't like it, your options are to talk about it all you want or ignore it if that makes you feel better. Me? I choose to simply cringe at the blatant errors and pick out the useful pieces that are hidden amongst the chaff.

Believe it or not, I really did try to parse that several times before deciding that it was gibberish. That being said....

You obviously have never seen me rag on someone. I didn't complain, nor did I chastise Keyman. I did indicate that the good bits he posts were worth putting up with poor writing that is hard to parse.

I did NOT try to teach anyone that they're is short for "they are" and you is short for "you are". I did NOT mention that "your" means belonging to you much the same way as "their" means belonging to them.

If Keyman chooses to frequently write without regard for the rules of grammar, capitalization or punctuation, that's his prerogative. If he wants to imply (which he did) that no-one else notices or cares, then he is simply wrong. It's MY prerogative to (kindly, I thought) point out that some of us notice without complaining.

Think of it as being similar to having a friend with bad breath. She doesn't notice it, you cringe when you notice but never mention it. It sometimes distracts you from paying attention to what's being said.

Maybe that's why I rag on my friends when they do have bad breath. " Hey Wayne your breath smells like crap". I kind of tell it like it is. I hope my friends would do the same for me.

Shiva is just annoyed because I called him on a couple of his: There was this safe that had 33 relocks, 6 Kaba-Mas X-09's and sprayed VX nerve gas on anyone attempting to open it without dialing the 6 correct combos in the correct order, or I once heard that Medeco locks could be picked with a popsickle stick stories. The final straw for him was probably when I debunked his FL election scandal post, which was too big for me to even display and required a file download, where half the bibliography was missing and the other half didn't apply to anything that was footnoted. Even if you personally like the guy you have to admit he makes a lot of hard to believe statements w/o a shred of anything to back them up. Shiva if a quote of this makes it through your killfile it's nothing personal just think you should supply something credible to back up some of the off the wall things you post. Or stop making stuff up. ;).

Yes, I'm a regular on Misc Survivalsim, and also on a couple Yahoo, Smartgoups, and Topica groups.

Life's too short to become uptight about poor grammar and spelling in this rather informal medium, it looks like suggesting poor education, when it might simply be poor keyboarding. Me, I have a tendency to leave fingers on the keyboard so long that the letter repeats, and I don't always stop to spellcheck. But some posts are worth reading even if not immaculately expressed. And some posters are wring in a foreign language ... .

I keep watching this thread to get a report on this magical consumer lockpicking device.

I don't suppose he'll ever want to eat crow and admit the the locksmiths here were offering an absolute unbiased opinion when he asked for it. I guess it would be embarassing to admit. Still I'd like to see feedback as honest as the advice offered the first time he asked.
