everlasting lock company

Where can I find a replacement key for this chest? We have one of these in our living room but we have no key... We don't even know what's in it.

Not a brand I've heard of; sounds like an import, at a guess... Best bet is to take it to a locksmith and see if s/he can fit a key to it.

that's right, stop wasting time trying to get something for nothing and just pay somebody to fix it for you.

Perhaps it is the way you are asking the question. As an example your original post is pretty short on details.

If you called a locksmith and asked if he had a key for an everlasting lock then he may very well have never heard of that so you might get a negative response.

I have been a locksmith since 1977 and I have never heard of Everlasting Lock Company, yet there are very few locks that I can't make keys for.

Furniture as a rule is annoying to make keys for in the field as there are lots of rather obscure blanks you need and often a second trip is needed. If you can, bring the piece to the locksmith and you might have better results.

I don't have that blank by name.

I *MIGHT* have a blank which will fit that keyway well enough to get away with.

Simplest thing to do is to carry it in to a locksmith so s/he can examine it and see whether something can be made to work... or, alternatively, whether another lock can easily be retrofitted to it.

Is this lock on a hope chest? And how old might it be?
