Locked Meilink ThermoSafe - I want to unlock it!

I picked up a Meilink Thermosafe from my local goodwill for $20. It's locked and did not come with the combination. I like the challenge of attempting to open it myself. I've read a little on safe-cracking and found it's a pretty fascinating subject. If anyone could help by providing factory combos to try that would give me a good start. I have a good understanding of how manipulation works but if anyone has specific advise for this particular model that might help that would also be great. I'm not interested in shelling out more cash to have it professionally opened. If I can't open it I'll probably donate it back to Goodwill or maybe see if a local locksmith wants it. (I got estimates of $45 - $180 depending on if a factory combo works, manipulation, or drilling.) It is a Meilink 1.3 cu ft ThermoSafe, brown and tan. The original door sticker is still on it with a 1985 copyright date printed on it. The door sticker says it has a three number combo. S/N: C-3660 I'm not curious about the contents. I think it's empty, there's nothing inside the safe making any noise when I tip it upside down. I just want the challenge of opening it and the use of the safe itself if I ever open it.

The best thing I can tell you is if you understand manipulation give it a try. The estimates you got are certainly cheap enough. You probably won't find anybody here who will give you detailed opening instructions since a. we don't have any way to know that it's really your safe, and b. safe reference texts cost considerable money and those of us who pay for that information are not all that thrilled about handing it out for free.

We don't teach unlocking techniques on this form. Not at all. None.

How long have you been out of the penitentiary? May we have your parole officer's name and phone number?

This is easy to open. Just make a list of all the possible permutations and try them one at a time until you have opened it.

This will also save you $45 to $180.

Let us know how you make out.

You know that's really a little uncalled for. It's one thing to refuse to give detailed information and another to automatically assume and insinuate that someone's intent is criminal.

You know, that's a really good point. I'm sitting (well laying) here thinking about it, and I've got, eeeeeeasily, well over a thousand dollars worth of books on and for safe opening (each at about $100-$150 a pop). And that's not counting the hundreds of SAVTA Technical Bulletins.

I'd open that box for $200. Assuming the factory comb has been changed.

Yeah Chris, that was a little harsh for you. Check your "witness", brother. :)

Bad day?

Yeah I thought the price range he got was pretty reasonable. Although maybe he just wants to open it himself for the satisfaction of it and the cost is not the reason he isn't hiring someone.

I coulda used a gentler approach. But the point I wanted to make is that the information he is asking is very useful to criminals.
