Even if that were the case that would mean that the un-malpractice inflated health insurance costs of EVERYONE is less than 1.5% of wage earners incomes. It doesn't add up.

A problem which will remain the same or worsen because such specialists want to be well payed. Don't feel bad we have the same problem in some places we just drive ours out of business with malpractice insurance premiums.

If you were a Canadian suffering under the same system you could come here, pay and have your procedure ASAP but for you guys downunder that's a long swim.

So the wonderful state health care system is so inadequate for you personally that you pay out of pocket for your own health insurance while at the same time subsidizing (without a choice) those that won't bother. That sounds just great. Actually it sounds just like the US. We have Medicaid (takes care of the un-insured any age) and Medicare (takes care of the elderly) here too. We pay Medicare tax (supports them both). The only difference between our system and yours is that we call it a tax and you call it a levy. Well and that you praise yours and we recognize ours for the imperfect system that it is.
