Amusing safe crack story in Milwaukee

If these kids had spent more time reading this newsgroup instead of watching TV, they might have succeeded!

Brookfield office burglary thwarted by open door

Waukesha - An office building tenant who discovered a door ajar prevented a break-in by alerting police, who subsequently arrested a man when he arrived at the crime scene with an assistant and a stethoscope to help him crack a safe, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday.

The break-in was thwarted at an office in the 13700 block of W. Capitol Drive in Brookfield on Tuesday night when a tenant on his way out noticed a shaft of light emanating from a door that was prevented from latching by duct tape applied on the frame, according to the complaint.

Police removed the duct tape and subsequently conducted surveillance that led them to arrest the suspects after they tried unsuccessfully to open the door that had been taped, according to the complaint.

Andrew Lemke, 18, of Wauwatosa was arrested with the stethoscope, a pair of gloves and a mask. With him was a 16-year-old boy who admitted agreeing to help break into the building, the complaint says.

Lemke, who worked in the building, subsequently admitted planning the break-in after seeing a stethoscope used to crack a safe on a television show, according to the complaint.

Lemke was charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Yep, they might have brought a hair drier rather than a stethoscope. It would have done them at least as much good -- probably more good.

Definite case of evolution in action. Unfortunately I don't think it's likely to either teach them much or remove them from the gene pool.

Rap isn't music. It's recitation.

At its best, rap is equivalent to the best of the beat-poetry-performed-against-jazz-music tradition.

But Sturgeon's Law applies here as always: 90% of everything is crud.
