Opinions on code machines

Am considering purchasing either an ITL 9000 code machine or a CodePro 4500. Any experiences with either one? Reliability, flexibility, ease of use?

Thanks

I've used an ITL 950 for the past 5 or six years in the van. Never let me down, and is built super tough to take all the knocks and bumps of mobile use and still cut within 1 - 1/12 thou tolerances. If I ever had to buy another code machine, I would not bother looking at anything else, period !. Cheers.

or a CodePro 4500.

ease of use?

I use a HPC 1200 so I cant comment on an ITL 9000. However, I wouldn't buy crap from Mr. Gordon Gravelle of CodePro Manufacturing. Check out this google group search and make up your own mind.

Codepro ... Well, the owner of the company, is suing the owner of a (Locksmith) web site because of what an unhappy customer posted on a message board.

Apparently the customer was very dissatisfied with the machine, returned it several times at his own expense, for repair, and was not satisfied with the results.

The company (Codepro) is located in Canada.

I have no first hand experience with Codepro so I can't say if it is any good or not.

I really don't care.

I don't like the actions of the owner and will not support those actions by purchasing the product or endorsing it in anyway.

I will however be more that happy to let any unsuspecting potential buyer know of the owners actions.

Codepro- BUYER BEWARE!

ITL 9000 & 950 I have heard good things about them. I know some of the older models need to be sent in for an (costly) upgrade in order to continue working properly . But I have never heard of any customer service issues , that hadn't been solved .

Gordon , You forgot to mention that you have serious customer service issues. In case you haven't figured it out You and Ray are almost tied for the WORST customer service prize.

Your choice of customer service reps is a judge and jury.

Perhaps you should work on improving customer service and stop spamming this news group!

-snip- Is there a disclaimer on your website with regard to how you will file a frivilous lawsuit against your customers when they dare to voice criticism of your product?

You may wish to review the difference between "mere opinions" and "false statements of facts" and/or "opinions which on their face imply that it was predicated from undisclosed facts that if false, are very much actionable".

LOL Haven't learned anything at all have you?

First of all don't be a top poster. Second of all I read the original remarks. Maybe they need to be reposted here? There was nothing libelous about them. The customer stated he had problems with your machine. You failed to rectify the problems to his satisfaction and he made the situation public. You, in the throws of a temper tantrum worthy of any 6 year old dragged your companies reputation through the mud and made yourself look like an idiot by filing suit, a stupid decision, which has dogged you and still tarnishes your companies reputation and undoubtably hurts it's sales to this day.

Want to compoud the damage some more? Keep responding as though you were in the right instead of off your rocker. YOU have done yourself FAR more damage than the original comments ever would have. You have only yourself to blame for the fact that people are consistently warned away from you and your product, mostly you, on virtually ALL of the locksmithing forums. Here's an idea: Why don't you file suit against all of the companies and individuals running servers where posts derogatory to you and your companies reputation are archived and posted? If you succeed in getting them removed (ROFLOL, fat chance) then some of the damage will be undone, until of course the next round of posts accusing you once again of being a litigeous nut. Then you can start the whole cycle anew. Why provide good customer service or products? Just sue anyone who dares complain.

I am on my second Code Pro. The first one someone decided they liked it more than I did. While it doesn't have a swivel head to cut Medeco, it does a great job on everything else.

Wow! This should win an award for convoluted statements! Somewhere between possible errors in grammar and punctuation and some wierd logic, my parser collapsed in hysterical laughter.

actionable".

Dear Gordon:

Just because you don't see eye to eye with someone's viewpoint, that doesn't mean you should sue them... Along that same line of reasoning just because you disagree someone's opinion doesn't mean that they are lying... "false statements of facts" = lying... So YOUR word about YOUR product is the gospel truth and no one anywhere has the right to express a contradictory view ???

Hmm... I really hope that several of your customers whom you have threatened with lawsuits over this issue complain to their state's attorney general's office about the methods you use to conduct your business in particular with attention to your customer service practices... These methods could be considered by some reasonable people to be intimidation tactics... Or better yet maybe they should contact the Better Business Bureau, who independently records complaints about businesses and the products they sell/produce and market... Something you should carefully consider here is the fact that if you rack up too many of those complaints to these type of consumer watchdog type organizations from many different people from far and wide, it can and will severely weaken your standing in future legal actions as the defendant can introduce records of such complaints to show that his/her statements are not "false" as many others share the same view/opinion...

You can not seriously tell me honestly that you really believe that everyone will be completely statisfied with your product... Because if you do you have definiate psychological issues that you should seek out a qualified therapist to help you sort out... Stop acting like a child about this, and take a serious look at the way you come off to people in the real world... You are only digging yourself into a deeper and deeper hole with every word you speak on this issue...

Do you really have the need to cut 100's of keys per hour ???

A "manual" code machine doesn't need a set of manuals the size of a set of encyclopedias to list all the codes, nor a computer to interface so you can "have easier access" to the codes...

By using automated machinery you loose something of the craft... That is just my opinion on that matter...

They have a place in super busy locksmith shops, otherwise they are just considered toys...

LOL. Great disclaimer! Too bad I read the entire post before running into the disclaimer telling me not to read it. <G> (It's okay - I wasn't offended anyway. Just the news about his go nowhere law-suit has convinced me I'll never buy anything from him. Had I read the negative opinions about his product without his fits, I could have ascribed them to "sour-grapes". He's done more damage to himself by his actions than an expressed negative opinion ever could have.
