The LG lock has always seemed much harder for me to manipulate than it's S&G counterpart. Anybody else have an opinion on that?

I for one think the electronic locks are for the birds. I have seen too many of them fail suddenly and that is a big expense.

I agree that the group II is probably sufficient except for national security or heavy industrial espionage.

I just got into a situation with an electronic... a 6120...

Man bought a BETTER quality burglary type safe. has a cash drop with a safe deposit lock on the inner compartment...

LUCKILY the outer door was locked open... 1/2" steel door and outside walls, with hard plate under an electronic lock... no combo known.... from what I found out you got a IMO 2 out of 3 chance of resetting it to a nothing combo, so it can be reused... and agree they work, work, work, FAIL, and that leads to some interesting drilling of a hole... a mechanical CAN fail and totally lock you out... if a couple of things were to happen, but they don't do that TOO often. otherwise with some time, several of the possible failures can be bypassed...

I have a customer that I am putting off, till they get a lot of money saved up... got a LaGuard that was a GSA used in a Post office... unknown combo, PLUS the dial was twisted when it refused to lock... they don't want to pay the bill to go through the hard plate yet... so, it sets... it must weight a half ton...

Shiva, if its a relatively new PO safe (last 30 years or so) it should basically be a GSA Class 5 container. It could be worse ;)

Jim

IMHO Mechanical in general is considerably more reliable. Perhaps not as easy for the end user to make combo changes to however.
