need help for a trivial trivia contest

Just want to assure you that this is not homework help, but a silly contest among coworkers trying to stump one another. Here is the question:

Name the method used to calculate the bending line in a transmission shaft with graduated diameters, when the loading is complex enough to make the Castigliano or Mohr graphical method unsuitable.

and the second part:

List the system of differential equations used in this method to describe the relation between deflection f, bending angle theta, bending moment Mb and transverse load Q.

Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Evreything you need is in "Theory of plates and shells" Timoshenko, 1968. Or search the web for "Timoshenko's beam theory".

But, if you don't need to solve any specific problem, you can build the equations on your own. Nothing really difficult after all.
