The piston.

You open the bleed valve, and allow what is behind the piston to bleed back into the reservoir.

Depends on the construction. Might be in part, the rod side of the cylinder.

Standard cylinder seals, usually.

Connected on parallel with the bleed valve, if it has a relief valve.
