What effect would overfilling a moterbike engine with oil have, say about 6
>mm overful on the sight glass?
>
>my bike has been stood for some time and when I took it out today it runs
>really rough - feels like a road drill !!
>It was ok before it was stood (was stood for 3months or so being
>occasionally started)
>only things that have changed are - new tyre fitted to back (balance and
>alignment is ok)
>new chain and sprocket fitted
>oil topped up.
>
>vibration is most noticeable when in top gear with the engine labouring
>slightly or when shutting the throttle from high speed
>and coasting down under engine braking......
>
>only obvious fault is the oil is overfull - could this cause a crank
>imbalance and thus quite heavy engine vibration???
>the fuelling appears ok and it all runs fine otherwise. I've checked all the
>mounting bolts are tight.
>I know that the oil level is clutching at straws but its the only think
>before a trip to the garage.....
Unless you put a stabilizer in the gas, dump the tank and fill with fresh fuel, remove the extra oil, and if a multicyclinder, balance the carbs.
