support using friction

Jul 18, 2007 0 Replies

I am working on a project that requires vertical suspension of a 35 lb box. The main requirement is that the box has to tilt +/-40, and must stay at the given tilt angle. I have many ideas on doing this with some type of screw support, but the design cannot have any screws. I thought of having a ball joint, but it seems that there wouldn't be enough friction to hold the 35lbs box in place. Are these types of high friction joints available? I searched for a couple of days now, but couldn't find much. I appreciate any help.
