Are you sure it's not 9/16-18? That's the thread on a size 6 SAE o-ring fitting. Parker 6 HP5ON-S and 6 P5ON-S are SAE plugs.
5/16-24 is the thread for size 2.
It is 24TPI and .558 major diameter.
