You probably won't find direct collets, but collet holders, adapters, or chucks are all over the place for 30, 40 and 50 Standard Taper. They usually come with collets. Check ebay. Paul

Are these possibly ASA taper? I think that they evoloved into NMTB tapers may be interchangeable with each other.

Leastways the Clausing horizontal mills were marketed as taking an ASA 30 taper and seem to get along OK with NMTB 30.

In _Machinery's Handbook_, in the list of tapers, you will find a set of ASA tapers which happen to be a merge of B&S (for the smallest), Morse (with the addition of a 4-1/2 taper as found in my Clausing lathe spindle), and Jarno for the largest.

This doesn't really narrow things down very much.

I agree with your suggestion (now trimmed) that the machine which they need to fit be identified.

Good Luck, DoN.

I have finally found the info I needed online

I have a milwaukee mini mill head and the spindle was not morse so I was trying to figure out what else it could be. Posted a message on it and no answer so took a guess

Now that I have done more research I found a website you may all be interested in

This lists the specs of the dif. Kinds of tapers

Mine ended up being a #7 brown and sharp and now I am on the search to find some of these collets

The table I mentioned in _Machinery's Handbook_ would have given the same information -- and more in the adjacent pages.

Glad that you found it.

Enjoy, DoN.

Ouch! I should have remembered this. Last Tuesday evening, at the CAMS (Chesapeake Area Metalworking Society) metting, there was a fellow (from down in Richmond VA, IIRC) who had a nice set of the #7 B&S collets for sale. Used, of course, but the size which you needed.

He may wind up putting them on eBay, so keep an eye out there.

Good Luck, DoN.
