Agreed. And back in the early 1970s, Sears sold Sherr-Tumico micrometers under the Craftsman label. At the time, I was working for the Army, and ordered some micrometers through GSA for use at work, while I was buying then from Sears for work at home. Other than the engraved "Craftsman" on the thimble (even the letter shape the same as on the Sherr-Tumico from GSA) and the packaging (the GSA ones came in fitted wood cases, the Craftsman ones came in plastic pockets with snap closures). Even the "manual" was the same, with "Craftsman" printed in critical areas where the other said "Scherr Tumico". (And no, these were not the tubular frame micrometers from which Sherr-Tumico got their name. :-)
I think that the combination square which I got at the same time also came from Sherr-Tumico. I'm not sure about the dividers, however. Those may have been Starrett.
At the time, I got the 0-1" 1-2" and 2-3" with carbide anvils. They are still good micrometers.
