DRO usage on mills

Thanks all for the input, on both sides.

I did check and I can purchase the mill with CNC installed. But it would cost 2.5 times the amount of the mill & DRO. I don't have the inclination to do a DIY CNC.

So basically I've decided to get a DRO. Anilam is my

1st choice, Newall 2nd. I've emailed Anilam about one of the features and will wait to hear what they say.

My last correspondence and Anilam DRO manuals came from Acu-Rite, and I assume that Anilam was purchased by Acu-Rite.

Definitely true. However, I sure feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of the DRO on my mill as it has made my shop time considerably more enjoyable -- and enjoyment is why I have a shop if the first place.

The cost per year has been quite minimal. DRO's last a very long time.

I don't have nor lust for a DRO on the lathe, but it sure is a convenience on the mill.
