electric motor capacitor

Oct 14, 2004 2 Replies

I have a small 3.2amp 115vac fan motor that has a bad 3.75mf 370V run capacitor. I can only get a 4mf cap. Will this work OK? Thanks

Sure. They typically degrade down with age anyway, and the value isn't that sensitive.

Bear in mind, also, that they typically have a tolerance of +-10%. So 4mf will be near enough.
