Frugal Machinist Web Site

I know Roy was giving up the website, but I thought someone was going to take it over and host it on their server? Anyone have any idea?

Thanks, Steve

Ah. Just what I've been looking for. Thank you.

Best kind of referral.

I've always just converted the text to a graphic and given it a non-obvious name. It's not clickable but it's not bot-able either, I don't think...unless they're going to OCR the whole site to look for an @ or something?

Anyway, I just sent a query off to pair.com - it looks like they've got some good options for me. I've got a bunch of domains in a bunch of places and I'm not thrilled with any of 'em. If I can consolidate into one at least consistant place, even if it's a bit annoying at least I'll know what to expect.

That's pretty good. I've been with this company for a few years and have been very happy:

"Hosting Special" is a great deal too. Click on it and see what is included, it's rather extensive.

No, that part I followed. My question was who was your provider who promptly shut your pages down on these bogus complaints.

Seems to me the provider deserves name recognition here. I would hope my provider would not find me guilty until proven innocent.

Roy:

To add my two cents. NEMES has been using these folks for about a year and a half

and the service has been rock solid.

If the time should come that you decide not to renew the site please consider getting in touch and maybe it could be moved to the NEMES website.

I have an archived copy of the entire site as of January 9th, 2006 I could put online if there's some urgent need for someone to see it. I had archived it for personal, offline use. I suppose if the creator of the content is willing to let me host it through one of my servers I could have it back online instantaneously.

Hurdy Gurdy Man. be my guest. You can do what you want with the website if your willing to host it go for it, be my guest. I am the owner of what used to be frugsalmachinist.com.........My name is Roy and my last name I will not divulge due to a big time war in another usenet forum involving a few whacko's, but trust me, I am theoriginator of frusgalmachinist.com, and you have my blessings. I think there is enough folks here that can vouch who i am (not personally though, at least not that I am aware of) and that I did indeed create frugalmachinist.....If there is anything missing, let me know. I do not suppose your at all interested in the odds and ends I had like the ponds etc, so feel free to modify or do what you think you need to do to get what folks want. My email that you can get me at if necessary is chipmkr at hotmail dot com . I suppose your smart enough to figure out my email fron what i have listed there......Best of luick to you if you decide to put the stuff on your server. This is the first thing ever I have ever quit, and it sort of irks me to no end, but thats life I suppose. Regards

Roy

I don't think I'd ever have anything to contribute to the content, so I'd really only put it up if someone out there wants to take a look at it. Unless you feel like maintaining it once it's up, that is. I certainly wouldn't mind hosting it if you wanted to update it with things you've been working on. It didn't look like it was something that would generate huge amounts of traffic, so I can't imagine it slowing down either of the network links I've got for hosting.

Actually the pond stuff does interest me, since I have a bit of land on which I might like to build just such a thing someday. It's one of the reasons why I archived it in the first place. But again, I would either just post it up verbatim if others want to look at it, or give you access if you'd like to update it and maintain it again.

Well, nobody ever said you had to stay quit, right? So if you'd like to maintain it, just let me know and I'll generate an account you can use to access it for updates.
