I haven't been to one, but I can imagine what it's like.

Same here. But he's just the most extreme case, not the only one.

He has one of the strangest thought patterns I've ever seen, in a person with a functioning brain.

I'll never forget this one. This is what he *swore* was the correct inflation rate, the "Shadow Stats" index, compared with the CPI:

Year CPI-U Shadow Stats Index

1969 36.683 44.57 1970 38.825 47.12 1971 40.492 49.19 1972 41.817 50.76 1973 44.400 53.91 1974 49.308 59.84 1975 53.817 65.29 1976 56.908 69.07 1977 60.608 73.56 1978 65.233 79.16 1979 72.575 88.1 1980 82.408 100 (Shadow Stats' base index) 1981 90.925 110.33 1982 96.500 117.09 1983 99.600 121.57 1984 103.883 128.02 1985 107.567 133.88 1986 109.608 137.79 1987 113.625 144.67 1988 118.258 153.26 1989 123.967 163.54 1990 130.658 176.12 1991 136.192 187.62 1992 140.317 197.62 1993 144.458 208.33 1994 148.225 220.79 1995 152.383 235.19 1996 156.850 253.39 1997 160.517 273.74 1998 163.008 295.06 1999 166.575 320.05 2000 172.200 351.23 2001 177.067 383.26 2002 179.875 413.35 2003 183.958 448.69 2004 188.883 489.48 2005 195.292 538.67 2006 201.592 593.51 2007 207.342 655.88 2008 215.303 731.77 2009 214.537 783.21 2010 218.056 853.08 2011 944.53 2012 1035.96

(I hope this isn't a mess on other's screens)

When you apply it, you conclude that a Big Mac costs over $17 in current dollars (2015), and a nice Oldsmobile that he bought in the early '80s would cost over $122,000 today. BTW, as "evidence," he said that car would cost $33,000 today -- which is precisely what the CPI predicts. d8-)

It's disheartening to think that anyone could actually believe that stuff.
