Way back in the late 50's a Chinese restrurant located in Journal Square, Jersey city NJ was paying 35 cents a cat. I bet a lot of us that eat chinese have eaten cat and a lot of other things.
Ed, remember Merkel Meat, they were selling horsemeat till it caught up witn them. They had a plant that was in Patterson or Clifton NJ that you could see from I-80.

They should regulate the buying of contracts to end users which would hopefully end the speculation and the driving of the cost of contracts through the ceiling. Selling contracts would stablize the price. When you get both buying and selling by speculator the price is driven up by the speculators " cornering the market" .

I heard of that place, in recent years. I think it came up in an article five or so years ago about Chinese restaurants and their tendency to use...interesting and illegal sources of meats.
No, that one escaped me. The one I remember best, and I think it was the trigger for the article I mentioned above, was a Chinese restaurant around Somerville, on Rt. 22 or nearby, that was collecting road-killed deer. There were a lot of them in the neighborhood.
I think the lesson is, don't eat meat on a stick in Chinese restaurants.
