Just taken delivery of one of the Shoba 6 inch rotary table kits, with the extras, indexer, centre, etc etc, and a few other bits and pieces from Chronos...
1/ Obviously haven't had a chance to use it in anger yet.
2/ pre-sale email enquiries were answered promptly.
3/ a big plus for me, not plastic only, they were quite happy to take a cheque in the post.
4/ time from posting cheque and order to parcel arriving was very short.
5/ parcel extremely well wrapped, several layers of extremely good wrapping in fact, good padding, and when you get down to the chunks of metal all nicely oiled and sealed in plastic.
6/ the rotary table itself is extremely well made for the money, there is about 4 minutes of backlash in the worm gear, but this is even throughout the revolutions of the table, and backlash is over rated as a problem, lazy machinists who don't like to measure enough dislike backlash.
7/ the table is nice and solid, apart from the backlash can't fault it, and it entirely justifies me taking a gamble on an obviously cheap new table vs an old second hand quality table via ebay with unknown issues and wear, nota bene, uneven wear on an old table will be more of an issue than even backlash on a new one.
8/ as i said above, included for 120 odd quid are indexing plates, tailstock, and even a decent little set of hold down bolts and clamps for use with the table, that's about two hours labour at a commercial garage rates.
No connection with them, but (unlike some others I could name) a pleasure to deal with, excellent value for money, and certain to be getting more of my money (unlike some others I could name) and as their website does not allow feedback like Axminster etc I have chosen to leave it here in the hope that others who may be dithering have a little more info about the vendors out there and the products they sell.
cheers
