What is the expansion on a 20 foot bar of mild steel with a rise of 1 deg, F

At room temperature the expansion would be about 1.7 thou/deg F

If the commonly quoted CoE of 12 x 10-6 per degree C is correct then a little less. 2.88 thou per degree C and 1.60 thou per degree F.
