Laser Crosshairs

In the following YouTube video he seems to be using some form of led/laser cross hairs as a setting up aid on his CNC mill.

Anyone come across these things - they look to be a useful aid but its not clear from the fuzzy video how or even where they are set up.

From the wodth of the beam, it doesn't look like they will be terribly useful for anything more than crude positioning.

I'm not convinced. The edges of the workpiece seem not to be blurred to anything like the same extent.

Being charitable, there may be cylindrical lenses that are focusing the beam to a line at or below the level of the cutter.

Hmm, they are claiming 10mW laser diodes. That is class IIIB. Glasses required in use, a keyswitch to prevent accidental/unauthorized operation and a bloody great sign needed. That would tend to limit its usefulness in the workplace :-|
