My late father was a champion amateur cyclist, and we used to have a load of medals and cups that he won in his youth, mostly all sold in the 1950's after he died and my mother remarried.
We did retain some of the medals, and as No2 son was showing an interest in cycling, we dug them out and had a look at them.
He was a member of the Sutton Pioneer Cycling Club, but I cannot find anything relating to them anywhere, even after an extensive search on the net.
If anyone has an elderly family member who lived in the Sutton & Cheam district in the 1930's and may have knowledge of the club, could they ask them about it please?
Some of the times may be of interest:
1937 Sutton (Surrey) to Brighton and back, 3rd place, 4hours 10min 43secs.
1938 50mile handicap race, 3rd place, 2hours 28mins 0secs.
1939 30mile time standard, 1hour 16min 39secs.
He died in 1946 aged 23, so he was in his teens when these times were set.
