R8 quill location pin

I wonder if anyone can advise how difficult it is to replace the location pin or key as found in a Bridgeport R8 vertical spindle. I have noticed one of my Briddgie's has no location when inserting a Clarkson chuck, I don't want it to start spinning and then ruin the spindle. It's obvious to me the spindle needs to be removed, but how much junk has also to be removed to get it out?ThanksBob
