Spring Steel

Dec 27, 2007 5 Replies

I need a few lengths of spring steel for a project. About 15-20mm wide and 0.5 -0.8mmm thick by 600mm long. They need to be H&T ready to use. Any suggestions for a source? Most of the suppliers only want to sell me a roll of the stuff, and I only want two or three pieces.

Try Mallard metals (usual disclaimer)

Make friends with a local clock repairer? They are bound to have old/new clock springs lying around.

Try Folkestone engineering supplies :

Their spring steel is not hardened and tempered but they do offer that service. They will sell any length you want.

I don't know if Mallard do what the OP needs, but in general I can highly recommend them.
