Hi, I'm looking to build a weight scale as a part of a project. the usual standard in the weighing industry seems to be using metals for the top and bottom plates of the scale. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried or could recommend any plastics that could replace the metal bars?
I see that polycarbonates (and glassfilled) have a high resistance to deformation (which would be a huge factor), but can't seem to get any idea of what it costs for these materials? designing for injection moulding is going to be a one time process so I'm not too concerned about those prices but am just wondering what the raw materials would be like?
Can anyone recommend some materials and give me an idea of what I should be looking for. Thanks, KW.
