Ref Point

Is it possible to remove Ref Point from view? View has been created by Broken View from View Type menu in ProE 2001.

Select the broken view, RMB 'Properties'. Ref point and Boundary both let you do various things with the break. Ref point, for example, lets you pick a ref point and move it. However, two ref points are needed to create the break and an odd number is not permitted, so it's hard to see how you could have a point that can be deleted and still have a broken view. Maybe you could explain what you are trying to accomplish. Then, maybe I could tell you how to get there. But, you should also check the Detailing Help files under 'broken view'. There is an important section on restrictions to modifying views.

Hey David,

How do I get to this? I clicked on help and typed in broken and detail but didn't see it.

Thanks

If you know what functional area the topic is under, in this case, Detailing, look on the right side, under the heading Pro/ENGINEER Functional Areas, and click on Detailing. That will get you to the proper search area where you can type "broken view". If you leave off the quote marks, it will find any document with either broken or view in it; adding the quote marks narrows the search to the exact phrase.

However, doing it that way allows you to search in only one functional area at a time. What if you're not even sure where you'll find the topic? Then you do a 'Global Search' (second paragraph under Welcome) which lets you specify more than one functional area at a time. Highlight a functional area, hold down Ctrl to pick additional ones, then click the arrow in the middle to move them to the search list. The search works the same for the string typed in 'Search for'. If, after the search, you still haven't found what you are looking for, you can change the search string. You can also remove functional areas from the list by highlighting them and clicking the other directional arrow and then add new ones to the list. Press the Search button again to check the new list of areas.

BTW, the 'Help Center' runs in a java-enabled browser. The functional areas are loaded by a java script whether you load them directly from the functional area list or from Global Search. If you have any problem with this, it may be that java is not installed or enabled or accessible.
