Who has the right to sell ProE?

Hi,

A question we have discussed at work is who has the right to sell ProE? This question came up when we discussed getting rid of a couple of licenses that we are not using due to layoffs. Sure, we don't need to pay maintenance for these particular licenses, but we would like to get back some of the invested money as well.

Do we (the company) have the possibility to sell to anoher party? Can our reseller 'buy back' and sell to another party?

If we are not allowed to resell it and we absolutely want to get rid of licenses, can the reseller be obligated to fix it?

Or is it just money down the drain?

I've seen this situation for another CAD program where the reseller took some fee, and transfered a license from one company to another.

Don't exactly with Pro/E, but UG requires that the whole division be divested in order to transfer licenses out. If you bought too many, they won't take any back.

When we sold a whole division that used Pro/E, they took a portion of the corporate Pro/E license pool with them.

They will transfer a license if your company gets bought or sold. We had this happen when I gave up all rights to a 50% previously owned company, where I was to start a new company with the designing capability. We had to sign forms and provide the legal transfer of Pro-E ownership to my new company and forward it to PTC. Any ways, IMHO, it's "all or none" for transferring licenses.

Thank you for sharing experiences.

So it's basically wasted money. That sucks.
