Aeropoxy

System 3 has a trial kit with everything needed for $20. West is available almost everywhere (boat & Marine stores, Woodworking stores) and the pumps make it far too convenient not to use. Mr Fiberglass has a less expensive epoxy which has worked just as well, but pumps aren't accurate so you still need graduated cups. All these are traditional epoxies with the smell and heat issues, unlike Aeropoxy.

OOPS. I said System 3 the same applies to West which, seems to be most popular amongst rocket people.

Really? The first 2 rockets I built I couldn't figure out what all the hype was about regarding odor and heat. Then I bought one of the other brands and had it kick in the mixing cup while I was holding it.

Now the Aeropoxy filler has an odor to beat the band,...

I use West System and I love it. No/low odor and the cure time is easily varied from batch to batch by using different hardeners.

"to beat the band", is that a new OSHA VOC test? ;-)

I have to disagree, sort of, Aeropoxy doesn't smell nearly as bad as the others, true. But it sure will smoke-off given the chance. I ruined a Fat Boy nose cone a couple of years ago with the stuff.

I haven't tried their filler but plan to one of these days. Like I said - the smell is subjective & of couse skin irritation will vary between individuals. People should always try to keep epoxy off their skin but sometimes it gets on it.
