LOC Legacy build questions

Hi All: Need to pick of few of the experienced and talented brains in this group . Just received my LOC Legacy today. Very impressed, well packaged, all parts well made. Except - it comes with a screw type eyebolt for the bulkhead section where the upper and lower sections join. Even with globs of epoxy this looks like it would eventually weaken. I have a few small eyebolts with nuts that I think would provide a sturdier solution. Does anyone have experience with the screw type or should I change it out? Also, this being my first mid-power with a payload section the way it is (almost breaks in half at deployment) I was thinking of utilizing two small chutes instead of just the supplied one. One tethered at the payload section eyebolt and the other 1/3 way up the shock cord from the main body. Comments? This rocket will stand 50.1inches (according to package) but says it will fly on a D12-3...dunno about that...an E would probably make for nice small field flights though. Thanks

packaged,

Does the kit come with a 24mm MMT adapter to fit the D12-3?

Nope - but I have two that I scratchbuilt for my Onyx and Lil Nuke. Tom B. "Born To Fish - Forced To Work!!!"

Hi Barry :)

Do LOC kits come with them?

+++ My experience (built two Legacy kits) has been that the eye screw supplied with the kit along with some epoxy should hold indefinitely. I can't imagine any stress that this rocket would go through for this method not to hold. Something else will fail on the rocket (e.g., body tube, cord, etc.) before the bulkhead.
+++ You can do this; however, it may be a tight fit. Of course, I beefed up my shock cord as well which pretty well used up any free space. The lengthy payload bay doesn't give the rocket much useable space to pack a chute and cord. I use one 18" for the entire rocket and it works fine.
+++ You're right and wise. Although the package says it will fly on a D12, I would not even try it. My rocket built fairly light with little paint and weighs over one pound. An "E" motor (E18-4) will work nicely for small fields. This rocket really rips on a F20-7 econojet!

Have fun! I think you'll really enjoy this rocket. Joe A. South Louisiana Rocketry (SOLAR) #8

Hi Tom, I think we've met. I used to fly at Monroe. I'd gladly give you some pointers if we can hook up some day.

Steve: We met in Monroe when my son Colin flew his scratchbuilt "ITZABOY" and I flew my PML Calisto. In fact, you were the one that inspected my rocket before flight. Have the Legacy just about done - but am worried about that really small chute provided with it. Think I might go ahead and use the chute from my Calisto - its a little bigger.
