Mechanical fin attachment

I just posted pictures of a mechanical fin attachment system I'm using in ABMR. Since I've not yet read all the books on HPR, I'm wondering if this system has been published before? If so, any known problems?

Hey Kev.....I can't see them? Do I have to enable anything special to view?

Cheers, Clint

I can see clearly now the rain has gone...... A fin lock set up hey........heh heh heh....

I don't think those fins will be coming off any time soon. I've seen fins using the rings as a locking sys...but not with that little lip. Only locks in the side to side movement but not the in & out.

Cool idea!

If you can glue another lip/ring ontop of those you already have, slot it where the fins are as in TTW attachment style, you'll have in-out, side to side locked fins..

Better still..... Do the same but glue it inside the original ring to save some space...

Can't you tell I thrive on ideas...... :-)

I thought I was up to #3....???

#3 - Some ply strips from the lock ring to the outside of the C-Ring would be easier than doing a new ring...

How's that? :-)

Re-post? The files are unreadable jibberish on my server.

I did repost the pics in UUE. Should be readable to all.

Sorry for the "gibberish".

hi Kevin:

yes mechanical fin attachments were used extensively perhaps in amateur rocketry..

I have a photo of such a rocket from circa 1959.... I can try and relocate the pic and email it to you....
