Government "revenue enhancement".

Yes the ATF is listening and needs to add more letters to its name.

I have not read up on the do not call list, however it looks like a step in the right direction. What I always wnated was a system where any time a tellemarketeer, or one of thier robots. etc. rings your phone your phone service accont is credited $1.00 plus $.20 for each minute of the connection. Once a month your tellephone service company would send you a check for the balance over your normal phone bill. This is not a high enough cost to put tellemarketeers out of buisness, but it is high enough to make them moore focussed and efficent, and it encourage me to actualy pick up the phone when it rings.

How do I report a violation of the do not call list to my phone, and see throught the prosecution and collection of fines? I don't see where I have the slightest bit of control. It seems like compliance is entirely vountary, rather than enforced, prosecuted, and fined. I understand that there is $11,000 fine for each violation, but that none of this goes toward actual victim comensation, nor compensation for my active cooperation in reporting the law violation and aiding its prosecution through to the collection of fines.

It seems to me that the government is in complete control of every aspect of this thing, except for actualy placing my number on the do not call list.

This would create a great market for automated answering/voice recognition machines which would answer the computer-generated mortgage calls and keep them on the line with computer generated responses, thereby racking up the telemarketer's fees. I like it...

Wow, you could even maintain a special phone line (which you never answer personally) to generate extra fees. Or how 'bout an automated call center to REALLY generate a revenue stream!

IC's we all benifit from an accepted risk. unless you accept no benifits from them you can not complain of their existence on your side of this argument. Fireworks same deal. used improperly to where they COULD affect others is already illegal therfore irrelevant. You can keep spinning things all you want. it does not change reality.

I don't know why I'm wasting my time on this, because you're obviously a complete idiot, but perhaps it will benefit a lurker or two.

I quit smoking more than 25 years ago. I haven't smoked a cigarette since then. I smoked a pipe in my early 20's for a year or two, quit that as well.

I ENJOYED both of them. I quit cigarettes due to health concerns, I quit pipes because (frankly) it was more trouble than it was worth, buying good tobacco, keeping it fresh, cleaning the pipe, packing it correctly, breaking in a new pipe, etc. But I DEFINITELY enjoyed it.

Your claim that there is no benefit to people is false on its face. Far to many people 'enjoy' smoking for you to claim otherwise. Now, it may not be a vice that YOU care for, but it doesn't mean that OTHER people don't like it. I'm happy to agree when you saw that smoking has an impact on you (you and I just disagree on how much of an impact), but you cannot remotely claim to be speaking for all the people of the world when you state the people don't ENJOY smoking, or that it doesn't provide them some benefit.

You cannot claim that a pipe smoker is 'addicted', because pipe smokers (as cigar smokers) don't inhale the smoke. And you can't claim that my cigarette 'addiction' makes me 'believe' that I enjoyed it 25 years later.
