Excellent news!
I just wish EAC had gotten the contract for the motors.

Or Aerotech.

Yes indeedy, just like the X-1 and X-15, and the EZ-Rocket.
I wonder if/when Revellogram will come out with a plastic model of it.
I've given up hope that Estes will ever develop any new scale subjects again.
Kevin, SpaceDev makes a sweeeeet motor. They have been doing some really cool thing of late. I have been pestering their CEO trying to get them to build a hobby sized hybrid.
Take Care, Larry
That's awesome! BTW, anyone know why it has a bunch of circular windows instead of a typical cockpit type windshield?

Don't a LOT of Rutans' designs use circular windows...? I seem to recall the Proteus and the Boomerang having them. :-)
They aren't. It was a joke.

I'm going to have to make one that fly's on a Ratt H70 Hybrid ! I Might as well make it R/C return as well, and am considering having the altimiter change CG locations at apogee.
Water ballast?
Have'nt figured that part out yet.
It is definitely a good candidate for an RC/RG. Hybrid would be cool, but lots of hardware to carry back on the glide.
How about planning on the distributed weight loss of the propellant to do most of the CG shift, then having the apogee detection move a control surface to get into the glide mode?
And here's the scale-like flight photo to repoduce...
Don't forget the onboard video. ;-)

Better mechanical strength (like a submarine or bathescope) except the pressure is on the inside.
Pardon the tech post!

Hybrids. N2O and HTPB

Sure is! I did some quick sketching and it looks like a RW I90 (3ft long), in a model a little longer than the motor, would not need ballast. I have an I90 motor, but no extra time on my hands for a while. And there's the little problem of not having enough stick time yet. ;) I'm pretty comfortable with the Aerobird RTF electric, but haven't built the 'Cuda that's still in the box since '97. At least I found the instructions while sorting through stuff (getting ready to move). -John
Well, I've got the I80 and it too should be "Just OK".
I will build a very "rough" profile scale unit and see if It flys ok before making a more "curved" scale unit.
Art
Opps, I forgot that, yes, it will need on board video !
thanks for reminding me John.
