i got to show you my $300 sr. a little gem, especially for a 30 year old. i put the noisy exhaust that was on the hot rod on it to be as loud as possibel. i spent the day rebuilding the petcock, cleaning the carb and sticking a big capacitor on. i'm sick of the desert eating batteries in 2 years. it runs sweet. let's hit the road! model shop trip would be cool. how's about victorville? there's actually a hobbytown.
I've been wanting to get to the Harley shop in V-ville for some time now. That sounds like a trip worth making. I'm hoping my ponies will only be gone a week and I'll have them back by or before next Friday.
...I think the last model I bought was a 1/32 Special Hobby X-15A-2. Can't even remember the last time I worked on one...oh, yeah - while I was off work. Working sucks...busts my muse for a lot of stuff.

drilling holes to rig the 1/50 smer walrus. i really like the yellow aussie one. it is much harder to detail then i thought. finding and fitting interior parts for a 1/32 me 110 that a kind friend helped me with references for. endlessly pulling out kits and putting them back.
Just to talk models here instead of our usual OT stuff, I'm working on a R-M '70 Challenger. This is the one with the metal body. I've discovered that Krylon Old Ivory works very well at matching the body colour. To be different, I wiped off (acetone) the 440 markings and am converting the engine to a 383 with parts from a Lindberg '64 Dodge 330. Once again using Krylon paints I have sprayed the interior in a satin finish bronze and am attempting to detail the dash with a silver Sharpie and another paint pen I found at Michael's. I used Humbrol's Gun Metal on the leaf springs and polished that out. It gives the springs a different texture to the gloss black structural parts. For a diversion I'm also working on a Model Power die-cast Skyraider that I have stripped of its Korean War-era Sea Blue. Also took off the 'rocket rack' but I have discovered that went below the wing's undersurfaces and I will have to re-apply after modifying them. Several rockets have been removed to make way for some iron bombs and I need to consult the spares box for some other items to hang under the wings. I'm still up in the air about the final colour scheme. SEAC camouflage would be neat but Gull Grey and White tend to call to me. So what's everybody else doing?
