Aires parts for the F-104G

Just got the Aires 1/48th cockpit/seat, wheel bays and engine nozzle for the F-104G. Nice stuff, perfect cast, easy to sand but the resin dust is indeed a major PITA. Anybody got some experience stuffing all that into Hasegawa's F-104G that he'd care to share ? Thanks.

For the cockpit make sure you cut away all the stuff molded into the fuselage halves and sand the resin so the bottom has a hole in it (seriously, the floor is the bottom of the fuselage). Test fit, test fit test fit! It was either the Blackbox or Aries sets that had a seat too high, you'll have to trim some off the bottom, again test fit first!

The best way to glue the thing in is leave the side walls off, loosely place in the fuselage and glue the fuselage together......when that's dry push the cockpit so it fits and then CA it in place from underneath. Finally fit the sidewalls through the canopy opening.

The Hase 104's tend to lean if assembled per directi>

Thanks for the feedback. I finally managed to squeeze the cockpit into the fuselage, with the help of a major sanding. Now, all that remains is the wheel bays...

Well, the main gear bay came for free with the nose bay... besides, I'll know that it's in here :)
