or is the mold at the bottom of the Pacific along with the Revell 1/32 Raiden?

No, it's Aurora, so that'd be a train wreck on the way to Illinois!
Since most of those re-issues were re-engineered off of extant kits rather than from moulds, it's not likely the mould's location that is hampering a re-issue. Maybe Polar Lights doesn't think it's worth it. Just a WAG.
