My question is - why is Snopes friggin with people? I thought they were the UL debunkers.

You know what this means don't you - that B-32 on the moon is REAL! ;-)

The follow-up story is indisputable: "Bomber Disappears From The Moon!"

She does - I've seen it enough times I'd stake my life on it.

Not only did I have to wait until our first color TV to put that one together, it was about the same time that I noticed for the first time that Frank Morgan played more than just Professor Marvel and the Wizard. Doh!

Going farther afield, it wasn't until I saw "The Wizard of Oz" in colour that I got the joke about 'a horse of a different colour'. Now I have to dig out my copy to see if she shows in the same frame as the real, walking horse.

I'll go with Kim on this one. If one wishes to be absolutly, strictly balanced then it may well be both.

As a related aside, several years it was noted on an Orkney related newsgroup that the first British civilian casualty of WWII was on Orkney and caused by a bomb dropped on a farm by a German aircraft aborting an attack from Scapa Flow. One could argue this was a pilot under pressure of attack jettisoning his bomb load.

An Orcadian reader corrected the posting pointing out that the person was killed by machine gun fire from the aircraft not by a bomb.

Is anyone seriously in any doubt that the Germans deliberatly strafed and bombed civilians early in WWII?

Like the Americans, and the British didn't ???

I guess it's OK to firebomb cities, but to strafe a farmer in his field is a no no....... (Chuck Yeager talks about strafing civilians, in particular farmers in his book)

I am always amazed at the people who think war is NOT about killing civilians.......
