Fiesler Storch/Cricket

Somewhere I read that after WW II the French produced a number of planes the same as the Fiesler Storch. For the life of me I cannot find that reference. Anybody have any info about this? TIA, Pete

Try a Google search for Morane-Saulnier Criquet. Mine produced a number of useful entries.

Academy produces a kit in 1/72 scale with parts for a radial engined Criquet.

ESCI did both a Storch and Criquet in 1/48 scale. I have at least one of each in storage. From what I remember, they are the same kit except for the different engines/cowlings. I haven't seen them on the hobby shop shelves for years but have seen them from time to time on vendor's tables.

Check out Morane-Saulnier MS 500 (and MS 501 and MS 502).

Several hundred Fw 156s were produced in France under German occupation. After the Germans pulled out, essentially the same aircraft was continued in production under the MS 500 designation.

The MS 501 and 502 were post-war up-engined versions of the MS

500 with radial engines.

Let us not forget that a Czech factory was involved in the program also. During the war 64 were built by the Mraz works. Production continued after the war as the K-65 Cap but I don't have any figures on postwar production.

My book says 138 K-65s were built by Mraz.

I assume that's post-war production and doesn't include the Fw-156s built under German contracts.
