Is it OK to mix Tamiya and Model Master acrylics?

Apr 20, 2007 3 Replies

I was wondering if anyone had experiences mixing the two brands of acrylics or even with other brands. Thanks

I have mixed Gunze with Tamiya and it worked out just fine

I suspect that you'll end up with a mess on your hands. Judging just by smell, they use different chemistry. Usually mixing different brand paints is not a successful venture. I woudln't even try mixing Testors PLA enamels and Humbrol enamels. I rather be safe than end up with a model that never dries or has curdled paint on it.

Back in the '60s when I was first learning to paint model cars I mixed Testors and Pactra trying to get a certain shade of blue. Both were enamels but they did NOT get along. I had a mess to get rid of before I even painted anything. ;)
