Looking back- 5 years of model building

Now, I've always been a slow builder, and that is compounded by the fact that I don't have a lot of time, and I also do "other" models, including RC scale boats (of course) and rockets, and stick and tissue balsa planes, and writing for websites, etc......

But anyways, I just compiled a list, and realized that I can list every plastic model I've built in the last 5 years from memory! I'll bet you "whiz-pro" builders who crank out gorgeous models (that impress the heck out of people like me) every few days can't do that! HaH!! (NOW I'm feeling better!)

In the last 5 years, I've built 52 models, and there's another 18 in various stages of completion. 42 of them are 1/72 aircraft, and most of them are WW1 or Golden Age. I've got 3 ships, 3 tanks, and one car in there, too.

That means I'm doing about 10 per year, or not quite one per month! (And at least half of the completed kits were slammer-type projects, built to hang form the office ceiling.)

So, any other members of the SLow Builders' CLub out there? We have TMS-- (Turtle Modeling Syndrome) and we're proud of it!

Sometimes I can be a whizz at building but more often I'm a TMSer. As far as reciting what I built and when I built it, I don't think so. Maybe I've been building too long because I frequently find out when I did something by casually glancing at old pictures. :)

building 20 years here...probably built over 2000 in that time...and I have been known to do the same subject over after forgetting...so now I keep a record... I junked most of what I did the first 5 years...just wasn't well done

Bill:

I think Ive got the disease bad too . . . .

Been back modelling for 7 years and I can remember every one of the suckers - my grand total is 2 wooden ships done, 1 half way through, and 36

1/72scale aircraft - an average of 6 aircraft and 1/3rd of a boat a year! The reality is worse than the stats, for 2 and 1/2 years I didnt touch the aircraft, just worked on one model boat between shifting cities three times . . . that includes repairs from broken masts etc.

Mind you, been doing other things too . . .
