OT: F-16s were in the area of UFO sightings

Thought some of you might find this interesting. Stephenville, TX is
about 70 miles Southwest of Ft. Worth, TX. ( Not far from where I
live ). A few weeks ago there were " UFO " sightings around the
Stephenville area. Some of the UFOs were reported as a " mile long
" ... and chased by military jets. At first the Carswell Joint
Reserve air base reported there were no military aircraft in the area
at the time. But now ... the Air Force says there were F-16's in the
area at the time.
So cue the X-files music ... and here's the story ( the plot
thickens ) :

The USAF is getting sloppy: used to be there'd be some sort of "explanation" (no matter how ludicrious or stupid) within 24-48 hours of the sighting making the news wires. I recall reading a Johnny Carson joke where he poked fun at Blue Book: "What do they use to pick the explanation for today's sighting? Either they pick them out of a hat, or throw darts."

After all, the "UFO" sighters SAID the object was being chased by military jets, and we all know that there is no more reliable evidence than eye-witnesses, right?
