I am getting tired of paying high prices for European kits and finding really sloppy moldings.
Building now the Czech Models Cessna Bobcat (T-50). When you open the box, the kit looks great. Lots of neat photo etch, good resin castings.
But as I build, I find the styrene stuff pretty sloppy. Lots of flash, but I can live with that. Problem is, even when flash cleaned off, the parts do not fit. Similar to the wing thickness problem, the chord of the wings at the root is longer than the corresponding matching surfaces on the fuselage. Similar problems on tail parts.
There are a couple of exceptions, like Revell of Germany, but I am getting to the point where I may stick to a few mfgs and merely deluge them with suggestions for the aircraft I want. The other European companies tempt me with such a wide variety of models, but for same prices I can get kits that fit!
It seems to me the problems are getting worse. I have built kits from some of these companies in the past where the fit was not as bad as I am finding lately.
