RAF C-130J Markings

Model Alliance have a decal sheet out that includes markings for an RAF C-130J Hercules C.5 serving in Afghanistan. The plane is overall camouflage grey, but there are dark green areas on the underside, and extending some distance up one side of the a/c, but not the other.

Does any one know the reason for it being painted in this manner?

Thanks,

Don Harstad

Don,

it is a special protective membran used on the british herks. See Scale Aircraft Modelling Vol. 30 No. 5 (July 2008), there is a nice article about the C-130J with drawings also of the C.5

Regards from Germany Stephan
