Re: Suez Stripes on Valiants

I have just dug out an article on the Suez Campaign that appeared in the November 1984 issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling. It deals in detail with the aircraft markings used and includes a drawing of a Valiant, WZ405 of

207Sn, based at Luqa, Malta.

The caption to the drawing says that all the Valiants involved were painted silver with the usual markings but had no Suez stripes. It adds that the stripes seen in photographs were applied later by a company artist for publicity purposes. A brief reference in the text also says that the Valiants did not have stripes added.
