Que. re: Hawker Hunter scheme in Revell 1/32 kit

I was poking around trying to get some pictures of the 208 Sqn. Hunter depicted on the decals in the 1/32 Revell Hunter kit. The kit scheme seems to be a mixture of 208 Sqn. and 8 Sqn. markings. The decal sheet has the stripes around the roundel and squadron badge from 8 Sqn. as seen here:

and the 208 Sqn. chevron as seen here:

Trusting that Revell was using actual photographs for reference, is the scheme on their decal sheet a one off sort of thing where this particular aircraft had markings of both squadrons after a transfer or something of the like? If so, can anyone point me to a picture of this and does it show the underside in silver or grey? Revell suggests that you could do either, but it would seem that if this aircraft were in some kind of transitional state with both 8 and

208 markings, it would not likely have retained both sets of insignia long enough to have had both grey and silver undersides while retaining both 8 and 208 insignia. Any thoughts? - Jack

The scheme depicted is as worn by the Hunters of the Khormaksar wing in Aden province (now Yemen), the squadrons based there used a pool of aircraft and therefore the Hunters were painted in dual squadron markings. There were actually 3 squadrons based there over the years , No's 8, 43 & 208, some aircraft also wore 8 & 43 squadron marks.

Hope this helps Ant
