Can anyone ID the version of Sherman in this photo?
The gun and mantlet shows it to be a Firefly, so it will either be a IC (modified M4A2) or a VC (modified M4A4).
The shape of the rear deck, plus the fact it has applique armour, would lead me to believe it is the Firefly IC

Concur -- it has the M4/M4A1 (Sherman I/II) air cleaners and "fishtail" exhausts clearly visible, so it would be a Sherman IC Firefly.

Canadian methinks as it would be very unusual to have two Fireflies in the same British troop?

Depends on when it was taken. By the end of the war the ratio of Fireflies to 75 mm gun tanks was much higher in British regiments. And yes, it is welded hull Sherman IC, a rather less common version than the composite hull M4 type (so-called Sherman Hybrid) with the cast front end or the M4A4 based Sherman VC. Gerald Owens
Many thanks to all who responded. There are some very interesting comments there.
