I just picked up a Tamiya Tiger 1 kit and wanted to know if there are any exceptional Tiger tank web sites out there as a referance for the different models and types. Also, I would like some pics of the winter camo scheme shown on the box. It is flat white with yellow blotches. Was this used very often? If so where and when?
Here's one. Includes drawings and the like. The folks who recommended on another NG say the drawings are spot-on accurate, too.

If you're going to go competition class with the build, you'll be better served using Thomas Jentz's extensive books on Tiger tanks rather than websites alone. He's written a bunch of them. At one time, if you bought one of the larger hardback books through him, you could send him the Tiger vehicle you wanted to model, e.g. chassis number range, and he'd send as much info as he had on that particular vehicle, including stowage configurations, combat history, and units served. Unsure if that offer of assistance still stands though; me thinks probably not, but who knows. The books are comprehensive nonetheless.
I think white washed Dunkelgelb Tiger I's were Eastern Front vehicles for the most part. I'm sure there are probably photos of Tiger I's on the Western Front in the winter of 1944-1945 with a white wash scheme, but I've never seen them. Mostly depends on which Tiger I kit you have, with early and mid Tiger models being Eastern front, and late models possible both Eastern Front and Western Front. Eastern Front you really can't wrong though.
