I am considering upgrading my vacform machine pipe from one inch to two. I use a surge tank which is evacuated and the inlet opened with a levered ball valve. To widen the pipe is easy enough but means replacing the release valve with a two inch valve. Can anyone identify a cheap plastic two inch valve for me please? The one inch one is high quality of metal with a nylon ball, pretty expensive for the larger version

Would a step-down adapter work? You could then keep your existing (and expen$ive valve).
Thanks Jeff I've been pondering on that one for too long. Its like filtering traffic down into one lane for a short stretch of motorway - if a two foot long pipe is widened except for a short constriction (ie the valve and stepdowns) is the widening still worth it? I could try it since I've found a two inch hose but I'd hate to make a two inch hole in my surge tank and then have to block it up!

Solved it. If anyone needs a large valve like that find a garden centre that sells two inch hosepipe and they will likely have a large valve as well. Got it sorted for about 23GBP incl. carriage and two metres of hose
