Very OT: Anyone here got a tankless water heater?

thinking of installing on of them instead of the usual 40 gal tank.hot water on demand! and with two kids it would mean the end of coldshowers...anyone offer comments, etc.???Craig

I have the Renai unit. It works great, but it's not instant. It takes about45 seconds for the water to get to full hot at the farthest tap. You cantake 2 showers at the same time, but it will only flow at it's maximum. Ifyou open the tub on full hot and run the sink full hot at the same time, itacts like the pressure drops to about half normal. The good news is that youwill probably never do that in real life. Only when your playing with it forthe first couple of days. The lower the temp you set it at, the higher themax flow. I run mine at 130, and can run the dishes, take 2 showers,whatever. If you have one of the big bath tubs their putting in new housesthese days, you could drain a 40 gal. tank just filling it.Feel free to email me if I can help more.Chris

I've got one that's a combined water heater and central heating furnace.It's said to be the most energy-efficient solution around.
